At the Table

 

We have peace in our surroundings

And we are happy.

We live in Heaven because we have peace in our

Surroundings and peace in our hearts.

We have a lighted candle, and the flame affirms

That the Holy Spirit is here with us,

And all those whom we love and are not

Here with us in body, but with us in spirit.

We grieve for those both far and near who

Do not have peace in their surroundings.

But what can we do? 

We are not empowered to control the world. 

We feel blessed but ordinary people are not assigned

Responsibility for the unfolding of the universe

Outside of one's ordinary space.

We wish the same good things to all others

That we want for ourselves, and have received.

What more can we do?

We have made a candle flame and we wish.

We long, we yearn, for everyone to have

Peace and comfort in their homes and lives.

We might be called, may we not?

To prove our goodwill.

On that day, Dear God protect us.
