October Leaves
They reflect a brilliance always there
But long covered by a greenness
Which is now drawn from shortened days
And collected in the heart for safe-keeping.
Warm to the sight, cool to the touch,
October leaves are a hopeful vision
Of worth before safe-sleeping.
